Robert Max Schanfarber has launched his campaign for senator from St. Thomas—St. John in the April 8 special election.
Schanfarber, the Republican nominee, has a campaign website up and running at http://www.max.vi.
The local entrepreneur will introduce legislation repealing the so-called Sin Tax on day one. He also pledged to never support a tax increase as a member of the Legislature.
“I stand with working families and main street businesses, who are taxed enough,” Schanfarber said. “I also pledge to honor the promises made to government workers and retirees.”
Schanfarber also pledged to work with the Republican president and Republican congressional majority to establish a U.S. Coast Guard station on St. Thomas to protect against terrorism and combat human trafficking, illegal firearms and narcotics.
As a member of the Virgin Islands delegation to last year’s Republican National Convention Schanfarber gained national attention for his service on the Rules Committee after he successfully fought to ensure the voice of the five U.S. territories remained equal with the voice of the 50 states and District of Columbia in the selection of the GOP presidential and vice presidential nominees.
